How Chiropractic Adjustments Can Relieve Pain

Today's blog entry will cover the topic of what happens during a chiropractic adjustment and why this relieves pain. Quite a few of our patients come to visit our Rochester Hills chiropractor to get help with pain conditions ranging from back and neck pain to TMJ jaw pain or arthritis. Our chiropractor, Dr. Ron Fried, is skilled in performing traditional chiropractic adjustments that involve gentle manipulations to specific areas of the spinal column and joints throughout the body.

Our Rochester Hills Chiropractor Helps through Spinal Manipulation

Dr. Fried uses "hands on" spinal manipulations to move the joints in the back into their proper position in the spinal column. In many cases, an accident or certain repetitive movements can cause the back to become misaligned. A spinal column that is out of alignment can cause pain that may include occasional twinges in the back, shoulder stiffness and pain, severe constant pain in the neck and back, headaches such as migraines, and even numbness and a tingling sensation in the tips of the fingers and toes. This pain is causes by the interruption of transmission between the nerves or by pressure on nerves.

During spinal manipulation, Dr. Fried will move the joints slightly out of the position they are currently in so that they can be gently guided back into the correct position. This adjustment will not only help to stop to pain, but will also help to restore range of motion and flexibility. When the spine is out of alignment, it is quite common to be unable to move fully and normally, and spinal adjustments will allow you to move in a normal fashion once again.
The ultimate goal of spinal manipulation is to both remove the pain and to make your body function better physically. We are happy to help you reach that goal and to live a healthier life as you do so.
